When you meet Terrance, it’s easy to feel his authentic concern for at-risk black and brown boys living in Chicago. He knows from personal experience the dangers of gun violence and the impact of limited inner city educational opportunities.
While the problem of gun violence and social inequities may feel overwhelming, Terrance is convinced that each person can make a difference. Terrance founded the In Zone Project and has become the legal guardian to ten boys living together in the Barrington Hills area.
We feel privileged to be able to be part of Terrance’s purpose by providing 10 mattresses and platform frames with PURPOSE in Christ. Special thanks to the anonymous couple for funding this possibility and to the delivery team of St. Mark. A special thank you to Raymond Chevrolet in Antioch for the use of their truck!
St. Mark continues to walk alongside Terrance and the boys. Pastor Terry Breum heads to In Zone to offer devotionals while Terrance has returned to share with the congregation of St. Mark. Some of the boys, realizing the social and physical distance between their community and Lindenhurst, asked Terrance “Why would these old white guys drive all this way for us?” Christ centered compassion compels us to see past differences and distances.
