STORY
A frustrating delay to his fresh start, Julio needed to wait for an apartment to open up before he could be released from jail. Finally, a one-bedroom apartment became available. Between Ken’s truck and Jeff’s tenacity, our own version of two men and a truck from St. Mark Lutheran, Julio had the dignity of a decent bed when he walked into his new home.
As I picked out sheets, pillows and blankets for Julio, I recognized the many churches making this gift possible. St. Matthew collected warm comforters, St. Michael’s youth group provided new pillows, St. Mark cooked up pots and pans while Loving Covers sewed their heart into the quilt and pillowcases. We’re simply better together! With PURPOSE pairs people’s compassion in Christ with people in need of God’s grace.
Social Impact
Newly released prisoners face a high rate of recidivism. To keep Julio and other inmates out of jail, we have partnered with CPAH, Community Partners for Affordable Housing. They provide housing, we provide the dignity of a decent bed.
SPIRITUAL Connection
A key part of reducing recidivism is community support. We introduce every person we serve to a local caring congregation. This connection opens the door for spiritual conversations and the chance for a new life in Christ.
Be part of our growing Caring Christian Community! Your gift delivers dignity, beauty and the good news of Christ to the door of those needing a warm bed and a fresh start. It starts with your heart, please — take action and donate today.
